The Thundering Herd picked up a commitment today from Hawkinsville, Ga. cornerback Dequan Bembry. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder gave his pledge to Marshall as he wrapped up his official visit in Huntington over offers from Kentucky, South Carolina, Southern Miss and others.
"I committed to Marshall earlier today," he said. "I was talking to coach Nichols and told him I wanted to commit and he was like, great. He then told me he thinks I'll be a good fit to the team."
What made the three-star prospect select the Thundering Herd?
"On my visit, I knew it was just the place for me and I could get a lot of playing time there," he said. "I also like the fact that I can adapt to the coaches pretty well. They seem like guys I can learn from and they were real nice.
"I also got to hang out with the players including Charles Gamble. They all were really cool guys and told me they think I could come in and help the team."
As far as playing time, Bembry should get a chance to play immediately.
"The coaches told me I'll get a good chance right away to step in. I liked that a lot and think it'll be good for me."
