Three Visits On RBs Mind

The best running back in Maryland wants to play at a school that incorporates a power rushing attack. His current top three reflects that.
“I don’t think I can say I have any favorites,” said 6-foot-1, 210-pound Barrington Edwards. “But I’m looking the hardest at Georgia, Maryland, and Michigan State right now. I like Maryland’s coaching staff a lot. I’m really familiar with them and they’ve been straight forward with me. I like Georgia because they have a great tradition, and use a power running game. I like Michigan State for basically the exact same reasons as Georgia.”

Edwards is also considering South Carolina and Tennessee, two more schools that love to run the ball a lot. With his impressive stats from last season, the Bowie, Md. star has shown that he would be a valuable asset to any offense.
“Last year I rushed for 2,300 yards and 29 touchdowns. I was named our team’s offensive player of the year, and I was first team all-state. I was also selected to the All-Gazette and All-Journal teams.”
Coaches have to love the big back’s demeanor as well. He has a confidence about him that may not be so quiet.
“I’ve got offers to Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee, and others. Basically, if you name the school, I’ve got the offer.”
Edwards is the type of back that coaches dream about. He’s got good size and room to grow. He’s a power runner with excellent quickness (runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds) and he’s equally effective between the tackles or around the end.
Has he taken a closer look at any of the schools he’s considering?
“I haven’t taken any unofficial visits yet, but I probably will. I did go to the Maryland summer camp, and the NIKE camp at Penn State. I definitely want to take official visits to Georgia, Michigan State and Maryland. I’m not sure when I’ll decide, but I’m going to go through with everything I need to do to make the right decision.”
