Three trips planned for Johnson

James Johnson is looking at official visits and the Upland, Calif., safety has three in mind so far.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound three-star prospect said he wants to visit Arizona State, Oregon State and Houston but has not set up any dates yet.

Johnson has already been to Arizona State on an unofficial visit and loved the campus so he wants to return and get a more in-depth look at what the program offers on game day. He could figure out a date for Arizona State sometime this week.
"I already went out there for an unofficial and loved it so I'm just looking to see some more things I like about the school," Johnson said.
"The school as a whole stood out and the coaches made a big impression on me. All those guys are great guys."
Oregon State was the first offer for Johnson so the Beavers continue to be one of the favorites as his recruitment moves forward. The Upland standout definitely wants to get to Corvallis before making his decision.
"I'm definitely going there for an official, too," Johnson said. "They were the first school to offer me and that still weighs heavily on me."
Houston might be considered the dark horse in his recruitment but Johnson said he is intrigued by the program and wants to visit. Since it's a little further away from home, Johnson has been doing his homework on the program and likes what he sees.
"I want to gather as much information as I can," Johnson said. "It's a little bit further from home so I think it's really important to get out there and see what they have to offer."
In total, Johnson lists offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Fresno State, Houston, Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon State. The three-star is planning those three official visits and said he'd like to schedule his other two as well.
