Three-star TE likely headed JUCO

Humble (Texas) Atascocita tight end Everett Pleasant had been primarily known as a basketball player before becoming serious about football recently. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect had a very strong showing on the camp circuit and ended up on the radars of several college programs.
Pleasant has long held an offer from Iowa State and had planned to make an official visit to Ames. However, the three-star prospect has some ground to make up on his academics and will not be signing with a Division I program on Wednesday.

"I'm going to have to go the JUCO route, pretty much," Pleasant said. "I'm a non-qualifier as of right now."
While junior college is most likely in his future, Pleasant still actually has a chance to qualify at the last minute.
"I talked to Iowa State about it," he said. "They're still on me but they just want me to keep taking the test. I have a couple more chances to take it and qualify."
Should Pleasant not make the qualifying score, he has a back-up plan in place.
"I committed to Blinn," he said, "but I'm still going to try and make it to a DI school if I can."
Pleasant is ranked as the No. 34 overall tight end in the country for the class of 2011.
