Three-star RB hitting the road

Three-star running back Laray Smith of Brooklyn (N.Y.) Xaverian took an unofficial visit to a Big 12 school this past weekend and has scheduled his first official visit to an SEC school later this fall.
Smith has been receiving increased interest in recent weeks from West Virginia, so he decided to take the trip to Morgantown with his family for the game against Baylor.

"It was amazing and I loved it," he said. "The people were friendly, the coaches were great and the team was very well coached."
While the Mountaineers have yet to offer, Smith is optimistic that this may soon change.
"Yes I feel one," he said. "They like my size and they were happy that I came."
Smith recently scheduled his first official visit to Tennessee for the weekend of November 30th. He had originally planned an official to the Volunteers in September, but had to reschedule.
"I want to see the same things that I saw at West Virginia," said Smith.
Besides West Virginia and Tennessee, Smith mentioned that Syracuse, Indiana and Ole Miss are the group of schools currently recruiting him the hardest. He has not thought about a decision date at this time.
On the field, it has been an up and down experience for Smith and his teammates.
"It has been a rough start," said Smith. "We have a lot of new people. Personally I'm doing pretty well. I definitely know that I'm faster than I was last season."
