THE LATEST: Re-al Mitchell had an impressive junior season and recently he landed an offer from the SEC that definitely piqued his attention.

The 2018 three-star quarterback from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco landed one of his latest offers from South Carolina and Mitchell, who has already visited some schools in that conference, is definitely interested.

There is a chance Mitchell, a dual-threat prospect who threw for 30 touchdowns and rushed for 15 others this past season, could visit with the Gamecocks this offseason. A visit schedule has not been hashed out yet.

So far, Mitchell has landed offers from Air Force, Arizona, Cal Poly, Hawaii, Northwestern, San Jose State, South Carolina and Utah. He said Louisville and North Carolina have been showing the most interest.

IN HIS WORDS: “About a month ago, some of the staff began to show some interest in me. I had called coach (Kurt) Roper from there where he expressed much more interest in my skill set as a QB. Then a couple days ago he had relayed the message to my OC Chad Johnson about my offer. I love the SEC, which is why last summer I took those two visits to Tennessee and Vanderbilt so to have South Carolina offer me was huge and I'm honored to be in the situation I am.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: The offer from South Carolina is definitely an intriguing one because Mitchell has shown a lot of interest in playing SEC football.

Last offseason, the 2018 three-star quarterback took a couple visits to SEC schools on his own dime and if he gets out to visit with the Gamecocks in the coming months then that could be important.

It’s still early in his recruitment, though, and the expectations are that more schools will get involved with the dual-threat quarterback this offseason. There’s just no telling this soon where Mitchell might end up.
