Three-star OT Smith lands offer, takes visits

Offer No. 2 came in for offensive tackle Will Smith this past week. In addition, the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder headed to two Division I colleges as he's still inching towards landing his first major BCS offer.
"I went to the Tech camp last week," he said. "It went really well for me. I haven't heard anything back from the coaches. I'm just waiting; they said they'll get back to me.

"The coaches said I had a really good day and helped myself a lot by coming to camp."
The trip was Smith's first to Blacksburg.
"It was a beautiful campus with beautiful facilities," he said. "The coaches were excellent and it was a really good day."
That was followed by an offer last Sunday by James Madison his second, joining Hampton.
"The day after the Virginia Tech camp, they offered," he said. "It was very surprising. I just thought I was going up for a tour, but it was surprising."
A few days later on Wednesday, Smith made an unofficial to Wake Forest.
"I went down to Wake for a day," he said. "It was really nice. I went to their camp earlier in June, so I was just coming back down.
"They told me to call them early this week coming up to see what they'll do. They're pretty interested and I'm hoping for something."
Smith went on about Wake more.
"It's definitely a nice smaller school, the facilities are made that way, but they are nice."
Many other schools are waiting to see just a bit more on Smith this fall.
"They all want to see some senior film," he said. "That includes Virginia, NC State, Maryland and Virginia Tech. They are trying to wait for some senior film."
With visits for the summer over with, Smith is now focused on the upcoming season.
"I think we're going to win a state championship," he said. "We have the talent and if we don't I'll be pretty upset.
"I'm just really going to try to get better as a lineman and be more physical, asserting myself more since last year was my first year."
