Three-star offensive guard Treyvon Hester out of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Penn Hills holds a handful of offers including one from the Big 12. The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder broke down the latest with his recruitment inside.
"I have solid offers from Kansas, UMass, Toledo and Kent State," he said. "I'm still looking for more.
"I actually didn't know I had the Kansas offer, but just got notice it was a real offer a few weeks ago."
What does he think of the Jayhawks scholarship?
"It's kind of early, but I feel the coaches like what I bring to the table," he said. "They like how I play, my physicality and I'm just anxious to get down there to see how the facilities are.
"I haven't set up any trips to go visit colleges yet. I'm deadlocked with the season, but I'm going to plan to take trips after I take my SAT in November or December."
One school Hester is still reaching out to is Cincinnati.
"I've been trying to contact Cincinnati," he said. "They were giving me a lot of letters early in the recruiting process, I'm trying to see if I can set a visit there to see how their facilities are."
So, does Hester like anybody?
"For real, I'm really open, I don't know what school I want to go to," he said. "I do kind of like Kansas. They are really forward and I've talked to the coaches, they are earning my trust. They are creeping in my mind a bit, actually Toledo is too."
Hester and Penn Hills have started the season 0-2.
"I would say it's a slow start," he said. "We've got a lot of young players and we're trying to fill some big shoes, we just have to play the game for four quarterbacks. We've got a lot of time to change that around, but I think we've got a really solid nucleus that can take us a long way."
Regarding his play, Hester is performing well.
"I think I'm doing well," he said. "I can't say I'm all the way to my top potential right now as I've still got stuff I'm getting better with.
"I have improved a lot this year on the defensive side of the ball. I'm engaging my blocks more and getting to the ball carrier quicker. I'm much lighter on my feet."
