Lake Balboa (Calif.) Birmingham three-star defensive tackle J.J. Fifita (6-1, 270, 5.1) had a visit scheduled to San Diego State but was unable due his playoff game last Friday evening when Fifita and his teammates ousted the 2005 City Champs, Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw 20-6.
I was planning on calling San Diego State back later this week to reschedule," Fifita said. I'm now talking to Utah about visits and we are trying to set one up."
"That's all regarding visits right now."
"If I had to name my favorites they would be San Diego State, BYU, Utah and Oregon," Fifita said. "I haven't heard from Oregon for a long time, but they still are sending me stuff all the time."
BYU had a scout at the semifinal game against Crenshaw and he liked what he saw so don't be surprised if BYU starts to recruit him. Fifita had a stellar game against Crenshaw and was blowing up plays all night long.
Fifita and his Birmingham teammates, once again, find themselves playing for the City Section Championship. If Birmingham wins it will be their third title in five years.
Birmingham will take on San Pedro, Calif., this coming Friday Night (Dec. 8th) at the world famous Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Fifita's older brother Siaosi Fifita a redshirt freshman defensive end for the San Diego State Aztecs. That is why many think he will end up with the Aztecs.
Fifita is a two-way player who more than likely will end up as a defensive tackle on the D-I level. He has racked up more than 30 tackles as a junior.
