On Friday evening, Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) linebacker Max Carroll made his commitment to TCU, choosing the Horned Frogs over a Top 5 that also included Vanderbilt, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Alabama State.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect took two trips to TCU over the summer. He camped with the Horned Frogs' staff in June where he picked up an offer. Carroll then returned to TCU in July for a more in-depth look at the program and university.

The July visit to TCU helped seal the deal for the three-star talent, who committed shortly after returning home before announcing his decision publicly on Friday.

IN HIS WORDS...

"I am committed to TCU. When I went up there in July and checked out the campus and the city, everything was just beautiful."

"On the football side, Coach (Aaron) Jones has been recruiting me since my freshman year. I met him during my freshman year at Briarcrest when he was at Memphis and we've had a tight relationship since then. He's a great coach, great guy, and one of the best guys recruiting me. He got the job at TCU in December and told me to come down there. I went down there and got the offer. Coach (Joe) Gillespie has been a wonderful guy and recruiting me heavy and it just feels right."

"During my July visit I got to spend more time with the coaches and learn more about not only TCU, but the Dallas Fort-Worth area and what they have to offer me along with what position I'm playing and how they see me in their system."

"They like me at the star position, basically like a hybrid linebacker/safety. They think I'm really good in space and have the speed and physicality of a linebacker."

RIVALS REACTION: Carroll is another impressive haul for TCU recruiting class that now has 19 total commitments and is currently ranked within the Top 25 nationally. The class is highlighted by four-star, defensive end Avion Carter and also boasts a plethora of high, three-star talents like Jordyn Bailey, Cameron Cook, Zachary Chapman, and others. Carroll becomes TCU's second linebacker commit in the 2023 class, joining Kylan Salter, who the Horned Frogs like at middle linebacker.
