Three-star juco LB heads to SMU

Garden City Community College is always home to some of the top junior college players in the nation, and the SMU Mustangs have dipped into the talent pool to snag a three-star commitment.
“I committed to SMU today,” Garden City C.C. three-star inside linebacker Clayton Cox. “I was down to Baylor and SMU. I went to Baylor middle of last week and liked what I saw. I then went to SMU and couldn’t believe how much more organized and more thought out SMU was.

“SMU had a plan for me. They want me to come in and be a part of their defense right away. Baylor couldn’t tell me if I was going to redshirt or not. I’m going to sign with SMU on Wednesday.”
Dallas is a long way from Weston, Kan., where Cox is originally from.
“I never thought I would go from the little city to the big city,” he said. “I’m excited.”
