"Me and my dad are going to try to take trip up there soon," Jones said. "Our goal is to go up there before May 24"
The visit will be the second of the spring for Jones, who also competed in the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour at Marietta High School earlier this month.
"We went to USF for a visit during spring practice," Jones said. "It was nice, there was some really nice facilities there and it seems like they're going to get the program turned around back to where they were before."
Jones said he and his father got to spend some time with new USF coach Willie Taggart and came away impressed after their conversation.
"We sat and talked with Coach Taggart and he was just saying that if I come in and work hard I'll have a chance to compete for a spot right away," Jones said. "I appreciate that."
This spring Jones will also work out on the defensive side of the ball, because several schools are also recruiting him as a defensive tackle.
After spring wraps up Jones said he'll do a few on-campus camps, with Florida and Georgia at the top of his list.
Jones has already has a chance to see Georgia up close, after visiting for junior day.
"It was nice," Jones said of his trip to Athens. "I was there with a lot of kids I played with in the Rising Seniors Game. I thought the campus was nice, too, and I like that it's not too far from home."
