One of northern California's top prospects for the class of 2006 is three-star defensive end DeShon Matthews (6-4, 245, 4.9) from Elk Grove (Calif.) Laguna Creek. Matthews has plenty of offers on the table and recently took his first visit to Arizona.
"I liked Arizona a lot," Matthews said. "The coaches were down to earth and everybody there made me feel like I was part of the team."
"The campus was beautiful and so were the girls," Matthews said. "I can see myself going to Arizona."

"I'm going to take some trips so I have something to compare it to," Matthews said. "I have another visit set to Washington on December 9th."
"I'm also planning on visiting Fresno State and Washington State," Matthews said. "Another school I may visit is Oregon."
"The reason I have chosen certain schools to visit is because I like their coaches," Matthews said. "I will make up my mind up when I know where I want to go. It will be to the school where I fit in the most."
Matthews has offers from Arizona, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado, Nebraska, Fresno State, San Jose State, Nevada and Cal State-Sacramento.
Laguna Creek's season ended Friday in a playoff game. Matthews racked up 94 tackles, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries and had one blocked kick.
