Three-star has one offer

Haynesville, La. athlete D.J. Lewis is a three-star performer who competes all over the field for his high school program. While he spent his entire junior year – fall and spring – without any scholarship offers, Lewis is too talented of an athlete for that drought to last. Finally, with summer arriving, Lewis has one offer to hang his hat on.
"I got my first offer from Northwestern State," Lewis said. "I talked to the coach and they want to offer me a full scholarship. They like me gaining pounds and being an impact player."

Throughout the spring, Lewis has seen coaches come in to check on him from a wide range of programs.
"Arkansas State came through," he said. "Arkansas came through, UL-M and Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State, they're on me real good."
As expected, Lewis' spring was a big success as he continues to prepare for being an even bigger part of his teams' success as a senior than he was as a junior.
"We played good," he said. "We dominated. We won our spring game and I did real good. Coming into my senior year, I think my season is going to be real exciting."
Also as expected, Lewis is playing a number of different roles for his team but that's nothing new to the explosive athlete.
"I'm an athlete," he said. "I'm running the ball, receiving the ball, playing corner. We didn't do much special teams but when the real season comes around I'm definitely going to be on that good."
Currently, Lewis' summer plans only include a planned camping at Mississippi State.
