Three-star FB makes pick

St. Louis Hazelwood East three-star fullback William Anderson was one of the most heavily recruited players in the St. Louis area earlier this year with offers from Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois, but then schools started to fill up and the offers were no longer there.
But there were a few schools that stuck with him from the beginning, and that persistence paid off with a commitment.

Anderson said he committed to Arkansas State after taking an official visit there on Jan. 12.
"I committed to Arkansas state a couple weeks ago," he said. "I committed after I got home on the visit."
In the end Anderson said he was down to Arkansas State and Northern Iowa.
"The facilities were better than UNI, the coaching staff was cool, everybody was cool, environment was better, campus was nice, football players were cool, and also their first game opens up against Texas," Anderson said. "And I like that kind of competition. So pretty much everything was cool.
"Just all about Arkansas State, everything was better than UNI. The coaches were cool, and they were real to me. The people at UNI were real, too, but the coaching staff at Arkansas state made me feel like I was at home."
Anderson had hopes of playing running back in college after rushing for 964 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2006. But he's going to end up at Arkansas State as a fullback.
"I feel good about it, they told me that they wanted me bad, and that I'm going to go up there and help change around the program," he said. "That made me feel good. They want me to just do what I do."
