Three-star DT likes Terps, Noles

When things are going well on the field, some times it’s hard to even think about recruiting. Take the case of Newnan, Ga., defensive tackle Earnest Mitchell Jr. With his team off to a 5-0 record, recruiting isn’t taking up too much time in his head.
“Things are going great,” Mitchell, who is 6-foot-1 and 280 pounds, said. “We won Friday 48-15. We really blew them out and I was sitting on the sidelines with 2 minutes left in the third quarter.”

But he’s doing his job when he’s in there.
Mitchell, ranked as the nation’s No. 24 defensive tackle by Rivals.com, said he’s racked up 53 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, seven hurries and five sacks. What’s even more impressive is that he’s doing all this with teams focusing even more on him.
“I’ve noticed it quite a bit,” he said. “They’re always doing a bunch of double teams and running away from me. That’s Ok. It allows my teammates to be open to make big plays.”
Mitchell said he’s not really thinking too much about recruiting but when he does he thinks about two teams the most – Florida State and Maryland.
“I know those are going to be the two teams I visit for sure,” Mitchell said.
In the previous update, Mitchell said he had a top four of Florida, Maryland, Clemson and LSU, but at this point he’s only sure about the Noles and Terps. He has scholarship offers from Maryland, Arkansas, Cincinnati and Vanderbilt.
