Three-star DT lands Pac-12 offer

Wayne Kirby recently backed off his pledge to BYU and received some good news Sunday night after returning home from a weekend visit.
The three-star defensive tackle from Pocatello (Idaho) Highland visited Utah for its highly anticipated game against California, and then landed an offer from the Utes.

It's a major development for Kirby, who had been committed to the Cougars for months but re-opened his recruitment earlier this month. Washington State is the only other Pac-12 offer on his sheet, but he also has garnered looks from the likes of Boise State, Oregon and Washington.

WHAT'S NEXT?: This could be a quick turnaround, as the 6-foot-3, 306-pound prospect intends to make a decision in the next week or so.
IN HIS WORDS: "I was at the Utah game on Saturday and it's a pretty big offer," Kirby told Rivals.com. "It was real nice. I talked to coach (Justin) Ena and I've talked to coach (Kyle) Whittingham. The whole environment there was nice. Hopefully I can decide in a week."
RIVALS' REACTION: The Utes are certainly benefiting from their surprising start to the season. They drew visits from a couple four-star prospects over the weekend and figure to have a very successful recruiting cycle within their region. Kirby definitely falls into that category and could be one of those hard-nosed, under-the-radar types that seem to excel when they step onto the Utah campus.
