Aldine, Texas, defensive lineman L.C. Kirkpatrick already has three scholarship offers and more are likely to be on the way.
Kirkpatrick, who is 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, has already received scholarship offers from SMU, Baylor and Iowa.
But most schools are awaiting Kirkpatrick's results on the ACT. Kirkpatrick will take the test for the first time on Sept. 22.
Texas A&M, Miami, Nebraska, UCLA and LSU are other schools that interest Kirkpatrick.
To further express his interest in LSU, he even went on an unofficial visit to LSU's Baton Rouge campus last weekend.
"It was a pretty exciting place," he said. "There's a lot of good food down there, too."
Kirkpatrick says that he is merely weighing his college options right now, with his primary focus being the upcoming football season.
Kirkpatrick's Aldine squad plays Houston Madison on Friday. Madison itself has a slew of blue chip prospects, including quarterback Vince Young, defensive back Donald Burgs and running back Courtney Lewis.
