Three-star safety DeChane Durante made a pledge on Sunday night. The 6-foot-3, 191-pounder picked up an offer and gave his commitment at the same time. Where is he headed?
"I committed to Northern Illinois," he said. "They offered last night on a call and I'll be signing with them on Wednesday."
Durante visited Northern Illinois recently.
"I went on a trip in the past couple weeks and the head coach was really down to earth. I liked him. I think it's a good fit for me," he said. "I was thinking about going to prep school, but then an offer from them popped up at the last minute and everything worked out.
"It seems like they are a young team. They went 7-6 last year and were second place in the conference. They are only getting better. They told me I shouldn't be redshirting because they had one safety get hurt and the other is starting. I can play as a true freshman."
Durante had held an offer from Illinois, but they fell by the wayside as recruiting dragged on.
