Three-star DB decides

Norwood (N.C.) South Stanly safety Detric Allen has come to a decision. The three-star prospect has decided to stay in-state. Where is he headed?
"He committed yesterday to East Carolina," South Stanly head coach Luke Little said. "He went down on a visit this past weekend and really liked it.

"They've got a good program right now and are getting better and better. I know he especially liked his position coach. He said the visit was more than he expected. I do think he also wanted to stay in North Carolina."
Allen picked the Pirates over offers from Duke, Louisville, Virginia, Wake Forest, Arkansas and more.
"I'm happy for him," he said. "I think it's a good fit. He didn't know what to expect and the visit was a lot better than he thought it would be. He asked me what he should do and I told him to come home and talk to his family and he ended up committing."
What kind of player is East Carolina getting in Detric?
"I think they are getting a kid with a lot of potential," he said. "He only spent half a year at safety for us and has gotten a lot better there. He was a quarterback before that. I think he's going to get a whole lot better as a receiver and wouldn't be surprised if he sees time there as well.
"He's a great kid with a 3.8 GPA and very dependable."
