Three-star corner gets big in-state offer

Spring has been hot for Hollywood (Fla.) Hollywood Hills cornerback Tony Grimes. The physical defender has seen scholarship offers pouring in for him on a near daily basis. On Wednesday, his offer list was boosted once again – this time by a program that he was hoping would come along.
"Miami just offered after practice," Grimes said. "Today was our Orange and Blue game which is a live scrimmage and the DB coach came out and liked what he saw and they offered me."

As Grimes' stock has steadily risen throughout the spring, he had yet to receive offers from any of the big three in-state programs. With Miami coming into the books, he is thrilled with the news.
"I'm real excited about getting an offer from Miami being the hometown school," he said. "I've been craving some interest from in-state schools and here it is. I grew up a Miami slash Gators fan, I was just kind of an in-state guy."
Even though the offer was big news to the big 6-foot-0 cornerback, he is not ready to commit or even narrow down a list of favorites.
"I mean, as big as an offer from Miami is, I still haven't sat down or decided a top five or favorites but that is a school that I look highly on."
Clearly Grimes has made an impression on visiting coaches. Just as he has throughout the camp season, Grimes has a knack for competing and working hard and that hard work is paying off.
"There is no better feeling," he said of the new attention. "It's starting to feel like every day I go to school I get an offer. Literally it happens every day. So there aint no better feeling."
With all the offers that are coming in, Grimes still has a few schools he is waiting on: Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State and Alabama.
