Three-star close, but will hold for now

Three-star two-way standout Joshua Shaw (6-1.5, 180, 4.46) from Palmdale, Calif., has seen his stock turn scorching hot ever since his stellar performance at the recent NIKE Camp held in Palo Alto. He recently received an offer from Notre Dame and that one has him thinking. He also received another Pac 10 offer Thursday evening (May 28th). Smith is getting closer to making a decision.
"I'm beginning to narrow things down, especially now that I received an offer from Notre Dame," Shaw said. "I like Notre Dame a whole lot."
"I also like Washington and Tennessee," Shaw said. "I just received an offer from Arizona State a couple of minutes ago."

Smith is still interested in two other schools before really honing in and narrowing things down.
"I don't why the two local schools (UCLA and USC) are holding out," Shaw said. "They have offered a couple of in-state players."
"I know they want me to go to their camps," Shaw said. "I'm pretty sure, I'll get offers then. I don't what the holdup is and neither does my family."
"I almost wanted to commit to Notre Dame, but I wanted to hold off until the two local schools offer," Shaw said. "Then I can really begin to sort things out."
"I've been to both UCLA and USC games and have been a fan of them both," Shaw said. "When they play each other, I kind of root for both teams and don't want either team to lose."
So Shaw is now in wait mode for the time being. This one could get very interesting over the next month. The only question now is, how long will he wait?
Whoever ends up landing Shaw will be getting a player who earned all-CIF as a wide receiver, all-Los Angeles County as a defensive back and all-league as a wide receiver as a junior.
On the offensive side of the ball, Shaw hauled in 27 receptions for 443 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had five carries for 133 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, he racked up 40 solo tackles and had four picks.
In the weight room, Shaw's current bench is 330, he squats 330 and power cleans 245. He has recorded a 36-inch vertical.
Shaw is a very impressive young man who has excellent leadership qualities. He leads by example on and off the field. He is also very good in the classroom as he is already qualified with his 3.1 GPA and 1180 SAT.
