Three-star athlete down to four

Anthony Johnson lined up at wide receiver and defensive back for Jackson (Miss.) Provine as a senior, and the athlete prospect has received interest and offers from a number of schools for his athleticism.
“I’ve been talking to Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Alabama and Ole Miss,” Johnson said. “I have offers from all those places, but none of them really stick out for me. I’m going to give them all a chance. I talk to Coach McCorvey [Assistant head coach Woody] at Mississippi State and Coach Woods [Running backs coach Sparky] at Alabama and Coach Hopson [Recruiting coordinator Jay] at Ole Miss. All those guys have been nice to me and nice to talk to.”

With Johnson still undecided, he will need a number of visits to make a decision about schools.
“I’m going to take my visits after the football season,” Johnson said. “I’m not sure where I’ll go or when I’ll take them. I’ll probably set them up a couple weeks into December.”
For now, the two-way star is content focusing on the rest of his high school football career.
“I feel pretty good about the season so far,” he said. “We’re in the second round of the playoffs, and I have 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. I think I’m a really coachable player, and I’m respectful and I work hard. I think that helps with my speed and quickness; it just makes me a great player.”
