Three stand out for Batiste

Lutcher (La.) junior Jordan Batiste is in a good place.
Several schools have offered. Several more are thinking about it.

"My most recent offer came [last week]," Batiste said. "It was from North Texas."
All told, five teams have pulled the trigger thus far - Memphis, Mississippi State, North Texas, Southern Miss and Tulane. Additionally, the 5-foot-9 and 170-pound cornerback is hearing from programs such as LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh and Tennessee.
"A lot of schools have talked about offering," Batiste said. "Probably, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh will be the next [to do so]. They both talked about seeing me jump in their system and playing right away. Nebraska has been on me pretty hard, too.
Batiste has visited LSU, Memphis, Southern Miss and Texas A&M.
Thus far, three programs have caught his eye.
"I like Ole Miss, Mississippi State and LSU right now," he said. "First of all, I've always wanted to play in either the SEC or the ACC. Mississippi State was my first offer. And when I went up there, I felt like the coaches really wanted me. And LSU -- I grew up with LSU you know. Ole Miss -- that's been an all-time favorite of mine. Those teams don't lead; they just stand out.
Spring practice begins next week for Batiste, and he said he expects LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, North Texas, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Southern Miss and Tulane to drop by. This summer, Batiste hopes to begin narrowing things down.
"I'm going to have a top five probably by the fourth of July weekend," Batiste said. "I'm planning on making a commitment right before school starts."
