Three share lead for Palmetto OL
Three-star Sumter (S.C.) offensive lineman James Thompson says it’s three-team battle between South Carolina, Clemson and Florida State for his commitment.
“Those are the main three,” he said. “I’m still going to go on my visit to North Carolina this weekend (1/9), but I’m mostly looking at the other three right now.”

Thompson (6-5, 310, 5.2) will visit the Gamecocks on Jan. 16, the Tigers on Jan. 23 and the Seminoles on Jan. 30.
Asked if there’s a leader among those three, he said: “It’s kind of a hard decision right now. They’re all so close. The hardest thing will be telling the other schools when I make my decision because I like them all a lot.”
Thompson said the key factors in his recruitment will be a chance to make an early impact on the depth chart and the school’s academic program for business.
“They all look pretty good in that regard,” he said. “I want to get a closer look when I go on my visits.”
