Three prospects getting looks at Irving

As is usually the case, Irving (Texas) High School is home to several top prospects on a yearly basis.
Coach Jim Bennett says that his 2008 group is very similar to previous groups. While his last classes have included top prospects such as Adron Tennell and Jamaal Evans, this next group has some similarities in the athleticism department.

Three prospects, Yogi Gallegos, Demarius Washington, and Chucky Jones are all getting big looks. Gallegos may be close to his first offer, according to Bennett.
"Right now, I don't know if TCU has offered or not, but I know he spent a day over there watching spring practice and all," Bennett said about the 6-foot-1, 171-pound Gallegos. "He's getting mail and interest from a lot of people.
"Yogi academically is pretty solid. I haven't talked to his recruiting coach, Dan Sharp, from TCU to see if where they're at with him."
Washington and Jones are both defensive backs who bring different abilities to the table.
"Demarius, athletically, is the most gifted of the bunch," Bennett said. "He can run, playing cornerback, and the bottom line is that right there is a cornerback who will be highly recruited because of athletic ability.
"Chucky is very quick. He has great speed and explosion. He's at 5-foot-10, 165 or 170 pounds. I've had one about his size in Demarcus Faggins who is playing for the Houston Texans."
No offers have come yet for Washingotn or Jones, but Bennett feels that with hard work in the classroom, that could very easily change in a hurry.
Two other sleeper prospects to watch include a pair of offensive tackles. Those are Matt Unger and Oscar Lopez.
"Both are 6-foot-5, which gives them a chance right there," Bennett said. "They'll end up weighing 260 or 270 going into this year. They've just really filled out. They're strong, run well, and I know everybody is looking for tackles with good feet. These two have good feet."
