Three-point stance: Kellys antics, best division, quick hits

Last week I asked on Twitter if there was a division in a Power Five conference
as bad as or worse than the ACC Coastal. That clearly hit a nerve with some
people, including a few unprofessional media types who are essentially fan boys
for Duke and Pittsburgh.
Inspired by that reaction, here's my ranking of the Power Five divisions from
best to worst:
SEC
West -- This is an easy call. LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss
and Texas A&M are all tough outs and depth is there.
Big
12 Big 12 Division -- OK, the Big 12 doesn't have divisions, but TCU,
Baylor, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma is impressive
foursome.
Big
Ten East -- Ohio State, Michigan State, an improved
Michigan team and Penn State team that's quietly 7-2.
ACC
Atlantic -- Bottom is ugly but the 1-2 punch of Clemson and
Florida State is tough to beat.
Pac-12
South -- Utah and UCLA plus a dangerous, boom-or-bust
USC team.
SEC
East -- You can hate on the SEC East all you want, and I have, but try to find
something better from the options below.
Big
Ten West -- Iowa is legit, Wisconsin is good and
Northwestern is okay.
Pac-12
North -- Stanford carries the league, Washington State is a
surprise and Oregon and California are okay.
ACC
Coastal -- People will freak out based on the records but there isn't a quality
win amongst North Carolina, Pitt and Duke. I challenge you to find one.
UNC's loss to Gamecocks kills the division.
3. Quick hitters
Some more fun quick hitters for you after dropping that divisional bomb on you.
I
think DeShaun Watson has the best chance of anyone to beat out
Leonard Fournette for the Heisman Trophy now, not
Trevone Boykin.
It's
probably time for Georgia Tech to move on from Paul Johnson and that
gimmicky offense of his. The triple-option has run its course and I feel bad for
the man who replaces him and has to build that offensive roster back to a
traditional offense.
What
the heck happened to Arizona, Rich Rodriguez? Wow.
Five-star
running back Kareem Walker decommitted from Ohio State four days after
saying he was solid and will now look at Michigan, Arizona State,
Alabama, Ole Miss and Auburn. I think this has zero drama and he's
going to be a Wolverine.
Quarterback
Jacob Eason and the rest of the current Georgia commits love
and respect coach Mark Richt so much that, unless he's replaced with a
splash hire, I think there will be a devastating impact on this class if he's
forced out.
How
on Earth did Oklahoma lose to Texas? I am still trying to figure that
one out after the Longhorns shutout loss to Iowa State.
How
weird is it that Gene Chizik, who has done a very good job turning
around a horrible UNC defense from last year, is being mentioned for Power Five
jobs while Gus Malzahn could be on the hot seat? Just weird.
How
about Penn State quietly coming together to be 7-2. There were many concerned
about this Nittany Lions team earlier in the season, but the win over
Illinois was their most impressive performance of the year. Perhaps the
Michigan and Michigan State games will make this division race a lot more
intriguing than we first thought.
