Three lead for Indy ATH

Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral athlete Kofi Hughes has had a busy summer. The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder has been to nearly a dozen camps including his latest one this past weekend at Vanderbilt.
"I've had a really big summer," he said. "I've been to 11 camps. I just got back from Vanderbilt. I went to Boston College, Purdue, Michigan, Indiana, Ball State and Ohio State. Indiana has offered, the rest want to see my first two or three games to see how I'm passing and running.

"Last year was my first playing quarterback, schools want to see if I'm more mature or if I've stayed the same. I know I'm already bigger and faster."
With one offer in hand and interest from a variety of other schools, does Hughes like anyone?
"Indiana has always been up there," he said. "They are my hometown school and I love the coaching staff. They are trying to get the program up and have new facilities. Indiana is definitely up there.
"I love Vanderbilt too. I'd love to play in the SEC, that has always been a goal of mine, not to mention they have one of the best educations around. I think Vanderbilt will make a decision about offering before the season starts.
"Then, Boston College would be awesome too. I liked my experience up there. Those three I'm really liking so far."
As mentioned earlier, Hughes is seeing an improvement in his play as he heads into his final year of high school.
"To be honest, last year was a guessing game. I was uncomfortable and out of whack," he said. "This year I feel a lot more comfortable in the pocket and my accuracy is much better. My spiral is good and I'm reading coverages much more. I've learned so much, now I'm ready to showcase it."
