Three lead for Illinois DE

Defensive end Nickcaro Golding out of Evanston (Ill.) Evanston Township is receiving mail from a variety of schools across the Midwest. The 6-foot-4, 219-pounder apparently has three schools that are standing out a little more than the rest.
"Probably by association he likes Purdue, Illinois and Michigan the most, but it's still pretty wide open," Evanston Township head coach Tony Johnson said. "He's getting recruited by just about every Big Ten and MAC school including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern and Iowa."

What do schools like about Golding?
"He is a phenomenal football player that is unbelievably good," he said. "His athleticism is great and he is very explosive. At times a year ago he showed glimpses of game changing ability, but physically he wasn't quite there yet.
"Since the offseason he is developing more by benching and squatting regularly to improve. He isn't the fastest player yet, but is working on that too and he is a very bright and smart kid that works hard. I truly believe somebody is going to get themselves a hell of a football player."
Though he has no camps scheduled this summer, Johnson claims his star defensive end will be attending four or five one day visits in June.
