Charles Okonkwo is busy playing in the South Bay BMW West Coast Bowl this weekend but the Fontana (Calif.) Summit defensive back sounds almost ready to make his commitment as well.
San Diego State, Nevada and Fresno State are the three finalists for the 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback and even if he makes his decision one official visit is still being planned.
All three remain seriously in the running.
Okonkwo said Nevada's new coaches stopped by his school last week, he's been to San Diego State numerous times and Fresno State has a lot to like as well.
"I actually got to meet the Nevada coaches," Okonkwo said.
"They came down to my school and they're great guys. They're trying to add the fun part to football and they know what they're doing. That's going to pick up there.
"(San Diego State) has a rich tradition and they run a lot of man defense. I really like that about them."
No matter his commitment, Okonkwo said he's going to definitely visit Fresno State the first weekend of February right before signing day.
His friend at Fontana Summit, Dontel James, could be close to a commitment to the Bulldogs and that could also play a major factor in Okonkwo's decision-making process.
"Fresno State is just a great school," Okonkwo said. "My friend, running back Dontel James, is thinking about going there so I would have a familiar face there."
