Three finalists for McLaughlin

Mauldin (S.C.) offensive tackle Jonathan McLaughlin could sit around and wait for more offers to come, but instead he has decided to focus on three schools that already have pulled the trigger.
"I've narrowed it to three," McLaughlin said. "Wake Forest, East Carolina and Marshall. Those three have been recruiting me the hardest. I'm going to put my time into those three. It's going to be one of them. There's no leader right now."

A decision could come "soon … maybe by the end of the month," according to McLaughlin.
What else stands out about his finalists?
Wake Forest: "I really like coach [Jim] Grobe. He's a good guy and everything. I also like the facilities at Wake."
East Carolina: "I like coach [Ruffin] McNeill. A guy from my school went there and he can kind of showed me around."
Marshall: "I like most of the coaches - they write me about every day. They've come down here and talked to me a couple times."
According to McLaughlin, he has been to Wake Forest and East Carolina but not Marshall. East Carolina is the only one where he has seen a game. Most likely, he will official to the Pirates. He also plans to check out Marshall sometime soon and take an additional unofficial to Wake Forest.
"I might go to Wake Forest this weekend," McLaughlin said. "Either that or in the next week or two."
The 6-feet-4, 288-pound McLaughlin plays left tackle in high school. His team is 4-2.
"I think I've been playing good," he said. "My pass blocking has been pretty good this year. I haven't given up a sack this whole season."
