Three favorites for Lankford

McKeesport (Pa.) Mckeesport Area safety Ray Lankford is one of many prospects around the country ready to make a decision. So where will he end up?
"Ray visited UConn this past weekend and that should be his last visit," said Lankford's father. "Coach (Randy) Edsall was just here in the house on Tuesday and he's a very impressive person. UConn really opened Ray's eyes."

Lankford has also been on official visits to Boston College and Iowa. Syracuse wants him to take an official visit this weekend, but it's probably too late.
"Syracuse offered him pretty early, but they stopped recruiting him," said his father. "Then this last few weeks they started back in on him hard. It's decision time though, I don't think Ray wants another team to confuse things. The teams that have been recruiting him the longest deserve an answer soon."
So who leads in this race?
"UConn offered him first and that's important, but Boston College and Iowa are obviously more established programs," he said. "It's not going to be easy for him. He has coaches from Boston College and Iowa coming at the end of this week and then he'll decide. It could be any of the three. Distance is the only negative about Iowa."
Lankford is a 6-foot-2, 205-pounder who could play strong safety or grow into a linebacker.
"He's actually up to around 218 pounds so he's getting to linebacker size," his father said. "I'm 6-foot-4 as well and he's looking me right in the eye."
