Three favorites emerge for Mitchell

During the past 48 hours, the recruitment of three-star defensive end Carl Mitchell of Memphis (Tenn.) Wooddale has shifted dramatically.
First, he said, Arkansas offered. Then, according to Mitchell, Tennessee followed suit.

"I camped at Arkansas on Saturday," Mitchell said. "Then I camped at Tennessee. I think I did good [at Arkansas]. I did a lot of things well. I think I did better at Tennessee. It went great there. I had a real bad ear infection last week. I got better as the days went on. I had to take medication for it. I was a little better at Tennessee. I wasn't in as much pain, so I came in and did what I needed to do."
Mitchell now has 15 offers, he said.
More importantly, he has a leader - and a top three.
"It's Arkansas, Ole Miss and Tennessee," Mitchell said. "I would say Ole Miss is No. 1. The others are tied for No. 2."
Mitchell plans to visit the Rebels this weekend.
"My next trip to Ole Miss is on Saturday," Mitchell said. "I've been to Ole Miss like four or five times. I like everything about Ole Miss. There's a chance to come in and play as a freshman. A real good chance. I like the whole facility there. And I want to major in business and they've got one of the best business programs in the country."
Mitchell also offered glowing praise for Arkansas and Tennessee.
"Arkansas is real nice," he said. "I liked the field. They have three practice fields and one indoor field. I like the weightroom, too. I could see myself playing there. I like everything about Tennessee. It was my first time there. I spent all day there. I got to go into the stadium and walk out on the field. I was amazed."
For Mitchell, a pledge could come soon.
"I want to make my decision hopefully in the next couple of weeks," Mitchell said. "I want to get it out of the way and get it off my mind."
