Three at the top for Sutton

It is getting down to crunch time for Brenham (Texas) three-star standout Courtland Sutton, and he knows it. He understands he has a big decision to make with signing day quickly approaching.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound playmaker is not panicked or shaken, but he does realize it is time to start making a few decisions.
"It's going good," Sutton said. "Everything has been going pretty fast. Signing day is coming pretty fast. Everything has been good though. I've been playing basketball and been hooping. I'm just trying to stay in shape for college."
At this point, Sutton does have his recruitment narrowed down to a few schools, and he has a couple of official visits in mind for the next couple of weekends.
"I'm actually going to Colorado on Friday," Sutton said. "I'm heading up to Colorado this Friday and I just started talking to Fresno State yesterday and I'm trying to get up to go see them before signing day rolls around. Those are the two I have lined up as of right now. I don't have any other ones lined up."
He took his official visit to BYU in September when the Cougars hosted Texas, and after the visit it was clear Sutton had a positive experience.
"It was pretty nice," Sutton said shortly following his visit to Provo. "The town is beautiful and the people were really nice. It's a wonderful town and the assistants were great, it's a great team, it's a really nice place.
"I saw the facilities, weight room, equipment room and all that. I interacted with the team and saw the game. The game was great. I liked the way the defense flies to the ball. It was a great thing to watch there."
BYU, Colorado, and Fresno State make up Sutton's top three as he heads down the final stretch, and he has an idea about when he plans to make his decision.
"Definitely around the time of signing day," Sutton said. "Seeing that I'm going to try and make that last Fresno visit it's probably going to be in that last week of signing day. I don't think any time before that. I am going to make that visit to Fresno, and I don't want to make a decision before I go up there to see their campus. It's definitely going to be in that last week before signing day."
As he heads into the final few weeks before he makes his decision there are several factors he is considering.
"How I feel like I would fit with the team, the coaching staff, the atmosphere around the campus, the campus, just how I see myself fitting in at the college," Sutton said. "Those are a lot of things I'm looking forward to. Where I feel like that college can get me to once I do graduate. There's a lot of things I'm taking into consideration when I'm looking to make my decision.
One factor not high on his list is position. Sutton is being recruited by BYU to play safety and Colorado and Fresno State to play wide receiver, and he has no preference.
"It really doesn't matter to me," Sutton said. "I'd just like to get on the field and be an impact player."
