Thompson outlines visit plans

The recruitment of Shurod Thompson has taken its fair share of twists and turns. At first, the four-star defensive back was dead set on playing with friend and fellow four-star Jordan Parker and it looked like USC or UCLA held an edge in his recruitment.

After a junior day visit to California, the Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty standout decided to make his pledge to the Golden Bears only to back off that commitment a few months later.
Now, Thompson is working on his official visit schedule. He will head to Arizona State in late September and Oregon State in late October. The Sun Devils have always been one of his top teams and the Beavers are definitely making a move up.
Thompson was supposed to also visit Oklahoma this fall but he recently cancelled that trip. The plan to play with Parker could still be in place.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Because of transfer rules, Thompson will miss a few games in his senior season after going to Brentwood Liberty from Pittsburg, Calif. The Arizona State and Oregon State trips are booked and Thompson also has Boise State, Colorado, UCLA and Utah among his favorites. The four-star is working on finishing up his visit schedule and he's taking his time with making another commitment.
IN HIS WORDS: "Coach (Todd) Graham and coach (Chris) Ball can develop my talent to be prepared for the next level," Thompson said. "Coach Graham is all about defense and my type of guy.
"I haven't been to Corvallis but I love the coaching staff. They really care about me already. I'm very close to coach (Dave) Baldwin and he's not even my position coach so that says a lot."
RIVALS' REACTION: To predict how Thompson's recruitment is going to go in the coming months is a fool's errand. Arizona State has been a long-time favorite so his official visit to Tempe could be really important. He also seems to really like Oregon State and then other trips could play a big role as well. Then there is the factor of Parker, a former UCLA commit, who has also reopened his recruitment. They want to play together in college so finding the right place will be crucial through the fall.
