Thompson looking around for now

Keeping the options open is the case with Katy (Texas) cornerback Will Thompson, who would love the opportunity to shine in-state if the chance comes his way.
After participating in the Fox Sports Net Southwest 7-on-7 state championship with his team, Thompson went back to business as usual. His leadership skills have helped in the off-season where his teammates are following the seniors in preparing for a state title run. He's also thinking about the next step, his college career.

"I haven't been offered by anyone, but I've been getting letters from a lot of schools," Thompson said. "It's nothing serious yet, but the phone calls were really going there a while when they could."
The Texas prospect has an in-state team very high.
"I'd love to go to A&M," Thompson said. "They've given me letters and after I get back from their camp we'll see what happens from there."
UTEP and Northwestern are also schools in hot pursuit Thompson along with Tulane. Visits are a work in progress.
"I want to see who's the most interested before I set up visits," Thompson said. "Honestly, I would like to stay in the state but free school is free school and you have to consider all of that."
Progress made in the off-season and during the 7-on-7 tournament schedule has kept his team not only motivated, but working toward perfecting their skills.
"The summer has been great because we've really corrected a lot of issues between the quarterback and receiver that were needed," he said. "We're doing what we have to do so we're prepared for what's ahead."
