Thompson impressed with Cal so far

Shurod Thompson has already attended one Cal game this season and beyond that he's noticed major changes within the program.
The offense is playing even better. The defense has drastically improved. Even though it's still really early in his recruitment, the 2016 four-star defensive back said Cal has impressed him so far this season.

"I just went to the Cal game when they played Sacramento State," Thompson said. "I like what coach (Sonny) Dykes is doing. He's letting a lot of freshmen play. A lot of young guys are on the field. They're looking pretty good both ways. The offense is looking good and the defense is looking good."
Cal has already offered the Pittsburg, Calif., standout who shined at the Rivals Camp Series in Northern California this off-season and the Golden Bears continue to pursue him just as hard as any program in the country.
It's something that definitely stands out to Thompson, who's rated as the fifth-best safety and the No. 64 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com.
"It's been the same with them," Thompson said. "They really want me over there. Coach Dykes knows it's close to home and he wants me to be a Bear but I'm taking it slowly."
So far, Thompson has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Colorado State, Oregon State, San Jose State, UCLA and Washington State.
USC and Oregon had been showing the most interest leading up to his junior season and now Thompson said the Trojans have really stepped it up recently. An offer could be close but the 6-foot-1, 190-pound recruit just isn't certain yet.
"I've been hearing a lot from SC," Thompson said. "They just want to me to come see a game and they want to watch a little more film on me."
