Thompson heads to Provo

Score another good one for BYU.
According to his coach, El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge three-star receiver Brett Thompson is heading to Provo, turning down scholarship offers from Air Force, Nebraska and UNLV and attention from Boston College, California, USC, Stanford and Fresno State.

"We are pleased to announce that Brett Thompson has verbally committed to BYU on an full athletic scholarship to play football for next fall," Oak Ridge coach Eric Cavaliere said. "We are excited for and proud of Brett, and look forward to having an outstanding Senior season at ORHS."
Ranked as the No. 76 player in California, Thompson had 570 yards receiving and six touchdowns in 2007. He had 12 touchdown grabs and 945 yards receiving as a sophomore.
BYU was the long-time leader for Thompson. He said in an earlier interview the Cougars were clearly out in front.
"I really like the coaching staff and the facilities are really nice - it's a good place," he said.
BYU has 12 known commitments, including pledges from 10 guys ranked three-stars or higher.
