Thomas surprised by Michigan State

One of the top targets in a strong 2017 class from the state of Michigan is Detroit King cornerback Ambry Thomas, who made a visit to Michigan State for their showdown with Oregon on Saturday.

"I loved it, actually," Thomas said. "I didn't expect it to be as good of a game as it was, but it was pretty awesome. They're pretty good running the ball and I don't think any team in the Big Ten is going to be able to stop that 1-2 punch."
The four-star class of 2017 prospect went into Saturday's game expecting Oregon to pull out the win. Still, he wants to see how the Spartans handle the defending national champions.
"Them beating Oregon didn't really get to me," Thomas said. "First, I want to see how they do at Ohio State. If they give them a good game, Michigan State is going to be an elite program this year."
Thomas arrived at Spartan Stadium late for Saturday night's game so he did not get to talk with the coaching staff, but he did get more insight on the program from his teammate, four-star 2016 wide receiver Donnie Corley.
"Donnie was on his official and told me he loved it and just might take another one," Thomas said.
Next on the schedule for Thomas is a visit to Ohio State this upcoming weekend when he and nine of his Detroit King teammates will travel to see the Buckeyes host Northern Illinois.
The No. 133 ranked prospect in the 2017 class, Thomas has totaled 14 tackles from his cornerback position through three games this season. He also has a receiving touchdown and a fumble return for a touchdown.
