Thomas recruitment heats up

It's no surprise that several coaches have already stopped by Aldine (Texas) High School to check out prospects like quarterback Darron Thomas.
Thomas, who says he's already picked up scholarship offers from the likes of LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Illinois and Rice, is just taking it all in. Previously, he said that he had an SEC school leading, but a few others have caught his eye as well.

"Yeah, LSU is still on top, but I've got a lot of schools I'm real interested in as well," Thomas said. "I like Nebraska and Illinois quite a bit too. All three of those schools are recruiting me as a quarterback.
"With Nebraska and Illinois, I just like the coaches. They said that I could compete from the get-go. They come down to practice and they're just real interested in me."
Thomas says that with some other schools recruiting him at receiver, he's split on what he'd rather play.
"It's 50-50 right now," Thomas said. "It really depends on how my season goes this year as a quarterback. That will really determine a lot for me."
Thomas will attend the NIKE Training Camp this weekend in Fort Worth. He's also expecting more coaches to stop by his school to take a look at him and his teammates.
"I know a coach from Rice was by already and the coach from Texas A&M was by too," Thoams said. "A&M is going to get back to me about an offer. Arkansas is supposed to be coming, Illinois, and most of the schools that have offered. Most of them want to come see what they've already seen on film.
"This Friday, a coach from LSU is supposed to be coming by and I think their head coach is supposed to come by too."
