Thomas recaps most recent trip

Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep defensive end Stacy Thomas made his way to Florida State on Saturday for a junior day visit. It marked the second consecutive weekend he took a visit to an in-state school, on the heels of seeing Florida last weekend.
"It was nice," Thomas said of Florida State. "I got to see everything. It was my first time coming up here. It was a nice time."

Entering the visit, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender was pretty familiar with what to expect in Tallahassee.
"I really knew everything because I talk to Coach (James) Coley a lot," Thomas said. "He really told me everything. It was everything that I expected."
During the visit, Thomas spent time with a pair of Jimbo Fisher's assistants.
"I met with the linebackers coach (Greg Hudson) and Coach (James) Coley," Thomas said.
Thomas, who holds an offer from Florida State, said that the staff indicated they want him to return this summer for a visit.
"They just want to see me come up to camp," Thomas said. "They will just go from there."
Florida State continues to evaluate where Thomas will play - outside linebacker or defensive end - if he were to opt for Florida State. For Thomas, who is used predominantly as a defensive end by his high school, he is open to working at either spot.
"I just want to play," Thomas said. "Anywhere that they put me, I will play. But right now I am really comfortable at defensive end. Making the transition to linebacker would just be something I would have to go through."
As for this weekend's visit, the highlight of that visit according to Thomas was standing on the field inside Doak S. Campbell Stadium.
"Going on the field," Thomas said. "Because it is a big stadium and it gets crazy during games. So I want to see how that feels."
Thomas shared a quick comparison between his most recent visit and his jaunt to Gainesville to see the University of Florida last weekend.
"The only difference was the atmosphere," Thomas said. "When I went to Florida everything was bigger. But the coaches and everything was pretty much the same."
At this stage of the process, Thomas is high on both of the in-state schools he has visited.
"They are still at the top. It is really between Florida and Florida State right now," Thomas said. "Those are the top schools right now."
Over the past couple months, Thomas' offer list has exploded. In addition to adding Florida State, he has also landed offers from Bowling Green, Duke, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia.
"It is crazy," Thomas said of his recent popularity. "I didn't really expect everything. My coach told me it was going to get like this but I didn't think it was going to get this crazy. It has been good though."
Thomas mentioned the possibility of visiting Georgia Tech next weekend.
