Thomas quietly rising up the charts

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. - Somehow he's managed to pick up a nice list of offers and is ranked as the No. 14 player in the Magnolia State, but has been considered the No. 4 prospect on his own team. Perhaps, he's somewhat overshadowed, but defensive tackle Victor Thomas is ready to show what he can do.
"I hope I am going to have a big year, but I am all about the team," Thomas said. "Whatever is best for the team is what I'll do. I tell K.J. (Wright) that if we are both going for a tackle, I tell him to take it so no one gets tripped up."

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Thomas is ranked as the No. 14 player in Mississippi and the No. 37 defensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com.
"Right now my top five would be Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Louisville, LSU and Southern Miss," Thomas said. "All five of those have offered, they are all in the South and they are all really good schools where you can win games and get a good education."
As a junior, Thomas was named second-team all-region as a defensive lineman and picked up 24 tackles.
"Ole Miss has a lot of defensive lineman that do real well and it's a good program," Thomas said. "Mississippi State is real similar to Ole Miss, they have a lot of good young defensive lineman there. I don't know much about Louisville, but I want to learn more about them and they have a great program.
LSU has a real nice stadium and I like how they have a big SEC crowd there every week. I don't know a lot about Southern Miss either, but I plan on getting down there and checking it out sometime during the season this year."
Though Thomas has narrowed his list down to five schools, don't expect a decision anytime soon.
"I want to take all of my visits and everything before I make any kind of decision," Thomas said. "I will take all of my visits and then go from there. It's going to be a while, probably after the season, before I make a decision."
