Thomas planning visits

Clinton (Miss.) three-star 2016 safety Lamarques Thomas currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, and Southern Miss, with Mississippi State coming on strong.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defender has not taken many trips during the 2014 season, but he did take one over the weekend and he has another one planned for the upcoming weekend.

"I actually went down to Southern Miss this weekend and watched them play Rice," Thomas said. "I'm going to go down to Mississippi State to watch them play this weekend as well."
The visit to Hattiesburg proved to be a good experience for Thomas.
"It was a nice atmosphere," Thomas said. "We were walking around campus and it gave me experience on how it would be. It was a nice atmosphere in Hattiesburg. The people were friendly. It was a nice atmosphere."
One aspect of the trip really caught his attention.
"I didn't get to talk to any coaches, but what really stood out were the people down there," Thomas said. "They were really nice."
He is looking forward to the opportunity to see both teams play.
"Going down to Starkville I'm really going to be watching the position I would like to play. Seeing how they do down there," Thomas said. "It's going to be a big game so I'm going to really be watching both sides - Texas A&M and Mississippi State. So it should be a good one."
Thomas is not ready to name any leaders at this point, but one school has been showing him more interest than the others.
"To be honest I've been getting a lot of interest from Mississippi State. They have not offered yet, but they have been showing a lot of attention," Thomas said. "The defensive backs coach, he's wished me luck before games and he hopes I'm doing well in school and in the season."
For now though, Thomas is focused on the 2014 season and the Clinton Arrows are off to a strong start in 2014.
"It's going well," Thomas said. "We are doing big things as a team, so everything is going pretty good."
Thomas is striving to do his best and continue to pick up his play, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to put wins on the board.
"Well, on defense whatever I need to do to help the team win I'm willing to do it," Thomas said. "If they need me to play cornerback I'll play cornerback and if they need me at safety I'll be at safety. It's just where they need me to be to make plays."
Thomas is currently ranked No. 23 among the nation's 2016 safeties, and No. 12 in the Rivals.com Mississippi Initial Top 20.
