Third SEC offer for Georgia RB

Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge running back Brandon Davis, a Rivals250 to watch selection for the Class of 2008, recently picked up his third scholarship offer from a Southeastern Conference program.
"On Friday at school, (Ole Miss head coach) Ed Orgeron stopped by to check on me and we met him and he got to look us (Davis and other Peachtree Ridge prospects) up and down," Davis said. "(Orgeron) was watching tape in the office. About two minutes after the school bell rang, (Rebels area recruiter) Hugh Freeze sent me a text saying Coach O told him to offer me."

Ole Miss joins South Carolina and Vanderbilt as the SEC programs to offer the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Davis. Although he has never been to Oxford, he plans to make a trip in the near future and is impressed with what he knows about the Rebels program thus far.
"I do know that they are very close as far as being that shocking team in the SEC," he said. "They were in a lot of games last year and they are only a few pieces away from winning an SEC championship."
At the moment, the Rebels are one of three programs that have offered that are recruiting Davis the hardest.
"I would say that South Carolina, Central Florida and Ole Miss are recruiting me the hardest," he said.
Shane Beamer is recruiting Davis for South Carolina while Dave Huxtable is leading the charge for UCF.
There is no current leader.
"Everything is still up in the air," he said.
And while Davis does like and respect the SEC, he's not limiting his options to only SEC programs.
"I do like the SEC a lot," he said. "I'm a strong running back and I know the teams like that physical running back to help them in their games. As far as that conference specifically, I believe I can use my talent to play in any conference in the country. I do believe that I fit the qualities of an SEC back."
The Rebels, Gamecocks, Golden Knights, Commodores, Maryland, Duke and Virginia Tech all have offered Davis. There are some schools that are showing a lot of interest who Davis believes could be close to offering.
"North Carolina came in last week and I think they are close to offering," he said. "I know they are coming back to watch me practice. I think Ohio State is very interested. They came down last week. One of my coaches said about 45 schools have come through during the past week. Several schools have my film right now and are evaluating it. We should know more after spring practice ends. After that happens, we should know more.
"Right now, we have spring practice for the next two weeks. Right now, that's the priority."
Davis rushed for 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns during his junior year.
