Things picking up for Pellum

It took a little longer than we expected but Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) Santa Fe defensive back Romeo Pellum recently picked up his first scholarship offer and also set his first official visit.
Pellum, 5-9, 160 pounds is one of the state's top cover corner prospects. He had a great showing at the NIKE camp at Stanford where he rated among the top three DBs in the camp following the position and one on one drills. He also tested well running a 4.54-40 and jumped 33 inches in the vertical.

On the season, Pellum has caught 23 balls for 700 yards and 12 touchdowns to go with 38 tackles, nine pass deflections and three interceptions. He has also blocked three field goals and has a 96 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
On the recruiting front, Pellum landed an offer from Weber State and is hearing from several other schools as well.
"I think Utah could be close to offering as well," Pellum said. "I have an official visit set there for (Dec. 15) and coach Roderick is coming over this Wednesday for a home visit. If they don't offer on the home visit, I definitely think they'll offer on my trip. I'm also hearing from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Cal, Arizona and UCLA.
"I just sent my transcripts out to a lot of the schools and I think once they see I'm qualified, more schools will be offering. I would like to take all my trips if I can and then make my decision sometime in mid January."
