Things looking up for Houston

Things are heating up all throughout the Lone Star State when it comes to commitments and generating a lot of that heat are the Houston Cougars and coach Art Briles.
Briles and his staff have landed several key commitments here this past weekend and it’s time to add another to the mix. This time the commitment is from two-star cornerback Matterial Richardson of Marlin, Texas.

“Matterial went ahead and committed to Houston this weekend,” Marlin coach Jerry Malone said. “He was picking between Arkansas, Houston and a few other schools.”
Richardson, who is 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, had offers from Arkansas, Houston, Colorado, Iowa, SMU and TCU.
While Richardson committed it’s still up in the air as to where Marlin safety D’Nerian Wrighter is heading. Sources indicate that Wrighter is leaning heavily toward Arkansas and might actually be a silent commit to the Hawgs, but that’s not stopping the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder from taking one last visit this upcoming weekend to Baylor.
“We know that he doesn’t want to stay close to home,” Malone said. “Baylor is going to give it a try this weekend to see what kind of impression they can make on him.”
Two-star offensive guard Jermany Griffin took an official visit to Houston this past weekend and could be visiting either Baylor, Sam Houston State or Northwestern Louisiana this upcoming weekend.
