Things heating up for McGaskin

Mobile (Ala.) B.C. Rain safety Elliott McGaskin is sitting on several scholarship offers and feels like he's close on more.
"Recruiting has been heating up for me recently," he said. "South Carolina came through with an offer and Clemson is supposed to be coming thorough soon. I think Alabama and LSU could be close, too."

Currently, McGaskin has a top four (in order) of Alabama, Clemson, West Virginia, and South Carolina and spoke about each of his current favorites.
Alabama: "I have been a Tide fan since I was young. I went up to their camp and felt like I had a good showing."
Clemson: "I love their coaching staff and their football team and program."
West Virginia: "With West Virginia, I like (recruiting coach) Rick Trickett and their football team. I also like (current Mountaineers quarterback and Mobile native) Pat White."
South Carolina: "(Gamecocks secondary coach) Ron Cooper came to one of our spring practices and said he loved the way I moved on the field and extended me an offer. I want to go up to South Carolina this summer to see what they are like."
South Florida, Mississippi State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe also have extended scholarship offers to McGaskin in recent weeks.
In addition to a possible trip to the Palmetto State, McGaskin hopes to see Illinois this summer as well, The Illini are the only team that is currently recruiting him as a running back and a safety. Every other school wants him as a safety.
McGaskin hopes to make an early decision.
"Right now, I want to go ahead and commit so I don't have to worry about it during the season," he said.
McGaskin had 97 tackles on defense in 2005 and rushed for more than 1,100 yards on offense.
