Things Evening For DB

Hampton (Va.) Phoebus defensive back Phillip Brown had a big favorite a month back, but things have changed since the spring evaluation period began.
“Virginia Tech was my leader, but now it’s even between Tech and Virginia,” said the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder. “Virginia coach Mike London came to see me at school when I was maxing out on the bench. He told my coach they wanted me very bad and I’ve been getting a lot of attention from them lately. I like Tech and Virginia the same.”

Brown also has offers from Tennessee, Michigan State, Maryland and West Virginia with others expected soon. While Brown is interested in the others, it looks like he’s intent on staying in state – at least at this point.
“I’m going to camp at both Tech and Virginia,” he said. “I’m still going to take my official visits and wait to decide, but staying in state would be nice.”
Brown said that he and standout teammate Xavier Adibi are no longer talking about attending the same school.
“If it happens, that would be great,” he said. “But it’s not something we’re talking about. We need to make sure we’re making the right choice for each of us.”
Brown will match his skills against superb wide receiver Shannon Lane from Salem High School in Virginia Beach in his teams’ first exhibition game. He’ll also play against Western Branch in the pre-season as well.
