Things are picking up for SoCal fullback

Every year there are players that you scratch your and wonder why they're recruitment is so slow. Though running back/linebacker Trevor Theriot (6-1, 225, 4.62) from Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor garnered a lot of looks from colleges, he is taking his first official visit this weekend.
"Everything has seemed to fall in place for me," Theriot said. "I have a meeting with Coach (Karl) Dorrell and Coach (Larry) Kerr about a future at UCLA."

"I am also receiving my first recruiting trip," Theriot said. "San Jose State flies me up this weekend."
Theriot has received a preferred walk-on with USC. He is one of six players in that category.
Theriot earned all-CIF Division VI Offensive Player of the Year, League MVP and all-county as a running back after rushing for 1,123 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 6.53 yards per carry.
While Theriot has seen his recruitment pick up, he still working hard preparing for the oncoming track season.
"At the moment I'm training hard for college football and track season," Theriot said. "I'm hoping to throw the shot 60' this year, and maybe run the 4x100 relay."
Besides UCLA, USC and San Jose State; Cal, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State have shown interest in Theriot.
Theriot has excellent bloodlines. His Grandpa, Dick Theriot, was a football star at Occidental College in the mid-40's. His Dad, Brian Theriot was an Olympic class runner who would have represented the U.S. in the 1980 Olympics.
Theriot has UCLA ties as his dad was a captain on the UCLA track team in the late '70s.
The athletic Theriot has recorded a 33-inch vertical jump and 4.25 shuttle.
