The Slash of Houstons private schools

Who was the biggest find at this year’s NIKE Camp in College, Station, Texas?
It’s hard to say, but Houston The Kincaid School’s Anthony Harrison – a 6-2½, 215-pound linebacker from one of Houston’s elite private schools – is no longer a diamond in the rough.

Harris, Kincaid’s utility player, transferred to the upscale private school from Strake Jesuit as a sophomore and has started ever since.
“It’s been fun playing at a private school,” he said. “It allows me the opportunity to try a lot of different positions, but the competition is not as steep. It’s also cool because it seems like the all of my teammates’ dads are a CEO of a company or owns a successful business. You really get to meet a lot of interesting people here.”
The ultimate slash – Harris plays quarterback, running back, safety, linebacker and receiver for Kinkaid. His versatility is drawing the likes of Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas A&M, TCU, Tulsa and Duke, just to name a few.
“If I had to name a top five of six it would be the Aggies, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and North Carolina – in that order,” he said. “All the schools talking to me see me playing so many different positions. But most would like me at linebacker.”
After narrowing his favorites against the schools most interested in his services, Harris – who has scored a 1,090 on his SAT – will spend much of his summer at college mini-camps and seven-on-seven tournaments.
